Кафедра анализа и статистики создана в структуре учётно-финансового факультета 1 июля 2004 года результате разделения кафедры учёта и аудита.

Миссия кафедры – развитие способности аналитического мышления, что даст возможность будущим экономистам, бухгалтерам, руководителям вовремя прогнозировать результаты своих действий и принимать на этой основе правильные решения.

Analysis is a general scientific method of research in dialectal thinking, which provides study of economic phenomena, and also allows determining the tendencies of economic system development with the highest level of precision. Accounting which is not finished in analysis, loses its meaning and becomes worthless. An accountant without an analytical thinking is just a bookkeeper, and manager is just an administrator. Analytical thinking enables a person with higher economic education to work as an accountant, governmental controller, economist, chief financial officer. Statistics unites methods of research of mass social economical phenomena as well as economical ones. Being universal, the statistic methods are used for the analysis of different socio-economic phenomena, in market research, in auditing revision, management and forecasting, in assessment of business entities' financial condition, in pricing, and insurance. Statistic data alongside with accounting data build up a foundation for managerial decisions making at different levels.

NATALIYA MYKHAYLIVNA MALYUGA, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, the Head of the Chair of Analysis and Statistics of ZSTU, Certified Auditor, Member of Methodological Board of Accounting within the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, was born on August 11th, 1975 in Zhytomyr. Graduated from Zhytomyr Institute of Engineering and Technology in 1997. In 1999 defended thesis for obtaining degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences (PhD) on the topic: “Assessment in Accounting: Theory, Practice, Prospects”. Since 1996 she has been working as an engineer of the Chair of Economics and Accounting, as an assistant, Assistant Professor of this Chair, as the Vice-head of the Chair of Accounting, as Professor, Head of the Chair of Analysis and Statistics. Five theses for obtaining degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences (PhD) were defended under her supervision. Nataliya Mykhaylivna is the author and co-author of 5 manuscripts, a great number of textbooks and manuals. Scientific interests: problems of accounting and control theory and methodic, accounting consultant’s investigation analysis.

The teaching staff of the Chair consists of highly qualified specialists. All of them are university graduates and students of the Honoured member of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Professor Butynets F.F. They are the representatives of the Scientific Accounting School of ZSTU well known in Ukraine and abroad. Certified auditors with experience in the sphere of auditing and financial analysis make up the majority of the teaching staff.

The Chair provides teaching of economic subjects for the FAF and FEM specialties, which may be presented in 3 blocks: Analysis - theory of economic analysis, economic analysis, technical-economic analysis, financial analysis, strategic analysis, models and methods of decision-making in analysis and auditing; Statistics - statistics, bank statistics; Business - basic principles of business, world business, staff management, international management. Disciplines in "analysis" and "business" are supplied with the textbooks and manuals, published in the University.

The Chair is the graduating one for the students. Tutors of the Chair supervise diploma theses and master papers in the specialty of "Accounting and Auditing".

Strategic directions of the Chair's development:

• defending Candidate's and Doctoral theses in order to increase the high level of tutor's proficiency;
• carrying out serious scientific research on the problems of analysis and statistics, preparation and publication of manuscripts;
• further improvement of methodic supply of the teaching process with the textbooks, manuals, and methodic recommendations;
• introduction of modern scientific and technological achievements into the teaching process.
